Product Maintenance Guide

All handmade pieces come with a 2-year quality guarantee Limited collection Made in Turkey

Buying a work of art,
to protect it
It is to choose.

Atelier Emine bags are crafted with meticulous care by skilled hands over weeks, crafted from crystal, velvet, mother-of-pearl, and pearl beads. Each bead is individually placed, and every stitch is secured by hand. These pieces are more than just accessories; they are the embodiment of craftsmanship and conscious fashion.

With proper care, an Atelier Emine bag will retain its pristine beauty for decades, even generations. This guide covers everything you need to know, from daily use to professional cleaning, storage, and repair.

Gentle Touch Principle: Never apply abrasive materials to handmade surfaces. Each cleaning process should be done with respect for the delicacy of the beads, the weaver, and the yarn.
Humidity & Light Balance: Crystal and mother-of-pearl materials are sensitive to sudden temperature changes and direct sunlight. Always store your bag in controlled environments.
Proactive Protection: Preventing stains from forming is much easier than cleaning them. Perfumes, creams, and cosmetics should be completely dry and absorbed before touching your bag.
Professional Support: Contact customer service in any situation where you are unsure. Incorrect handling could make the damage permanent.

Each material,
It deserves its own ritual.

Each material used in our collection has its own unique texture and properties. Follow the guidelines below according to the material in your bag.

01 — Crystal

Crystal Bead Care

  • Use only a dry, soft microfiber cloth; wipe gently in circular motions.
  • Use a soft, densely bristled dust brush to clean between the beads.
  • Store in a cool, dry place; 10–22°C is the ideal range.
  • Avoid placing it on a hard surface; the crystal will break or crack.
  • NEVER use liquid cleaners, alcohol-based products, or wet wipes.
  • Do not use an ultrasound cleaner; it may damage the crystal thread.
  • Do not expose the crystal to direct sunlight; it will cause discoloration.

02 — Velvet

Velvet Surface Care

  • For shedding, gently brush in the direction of the velvet (the direction of hair growth).
  • Pulling in the direction of the hair growth will ruin the velvet's shine; always pull in the same direction.
  • Lightly dampening with a steam iron revitalizes crushed velvet surfaces — apply without dabbing.
  • Remove damp stains immediately and gently (without rubbing).
  • Do not leave the bag in a humid or hot environment; velvet can attract mold.
  • Do not rub; this will break off the velvety fibers and cause the shine to disappear.
  • Do not use dry cleaning solvents; they will remove the color.

03 — Mother-of-pearl

Psoriasis & Natural Shell Care

  • Wipe mother-of-pearl surfaces only with a dry or slightly damp (wrung out) cloth.
  • Applying a light layer of mineral oil preserves the shine of the mother-of-pearl; a thin layer is sufficient.
  • Keep away from substances with high acid content (perfume, sweat).
  • After each use, wipe with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
  • If it will be stored for a long time, cover the surface with a soft cloth.
  • Acidic or chemical-based cleaners leave the surface of psoriasis dull.
  • Avoid contact with products containing bleach or limescale removers.

04 — Pearl Beads

Pearl & Glass Bead Care

  • After each use, wipe the pearl surfaces with a soft, pure cotton cloth.
  • Pearls are the accessory you wear closest to your skin, so they are susceptible to sweat and acid; regular cleaning is essential.
  • Store the glass beads in a well-ventilated, dry place, making sure they don't touch each other.
  • If the chain or rope becomes stiff, request a professional rope replacement.
  • Never submerge pearls in water; if the beads are tied with string, the string will rot.
  • The ultrasonic cleaner instantly destroys the bead thread.

Cleaning
protocol

Read these steps carefully before cleaning your bag. Incorrect procedure could lead to irreversible damage.

✦ Expert Advice

We recommend having your luxury accessories professionally cleaned at least once a year. Atelier Emine customer service can refer you to reliable service centers.

— Step 01

Preliminary Assessment

Before beginning the cleaning process, inspect your bag under good lighting. If you notice any loose beads, broken stitches, or cracks, stop cleaning and seek professional repair. To avoid making the damage worse, do not attempt to clean a damaged bag yourself.

— Step 02

Choose the Right Material

Prepare a soft, white or light-colored microfiber cloth, a dust brush with very dense and soft bristles, and, if necessary, a very small amount of pure, unscented baby soap. Acetone, alcohol, bleach, or any other household cleaning products should absolutely not be used.

Do not use these products.

  • Alcohol-based disinfectant or cologne
  • Acetone / nail polish remover
  • Bleach and descaler
  • Chemical surface cleaners
  • abrasive sponge or stiff brush
  • Hair dryer or hair dryer hot air

— Step 03

Dry Cleaning (Priority Method)

Dry cleaning is the preferred choice for all types of bags. Gently wipe over the beads with a soft microfiber cloth using straight, not circular, motions. Carefully brush away any buildup between the beads. This method can be applied once a week for routine bag maintenance.

— Step 04

Stain Removal (If Needed)

If a stain occurs, don't panic. First, gently blot up the excess with a clean, dry cloth (without rubbing). If the stain remains, moisten a cloth with a small amount of pure water and apply it to only the stained area, pressing lightly. Do not rub the wet cloth over the entire surface. Then, remove excess moisture with a dry cloth. If in doubt, contact customer service.

— Step 05

Drying & Dehydration

After cleaning, let your bag dry naturally at room temperature in a shaded and airy area. Absolutely do not place it on a hairdryer, iron, or heater. Drying it on a radiator or oven will instantly damage the bead thread and adhesive.

Your Bag's Home,
It reflects your care.

Proper storage conditions make a bigger difference than active cleaning. By storing your bag in the right environment, you can at least double its lifespan.

Store in a dust bag.

Each Atelier Emine bag should be stored in the soft cloth dust bag in which it was delivered. This bag is the first line of defense against dust, light, and moisture. Do not store in a plastic bag — lack of air circulation leads to moisture buildup.

Correct Temperature & Humidity

The ideal storage temperature is 15–22°C; the relative humidity is between 40–55%. Very dry environments will damage the bead string, while very humid environments will damage velvet and silk materials. Keep away from areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, or garages.

Protect from light.

Colored crystals and mother-of-pearl materials will fade if exposed to prolonged UV light. Do not place your bag on shelves in direct sunlight or under lights. A closed, dark box or cupboard is ideal.

Shape Retention

Keep your hard-bottomed bags in shape by stuffing them with soft paper. Don't stack beaded bags on top of each other; the beads on the bottom bag may be damaged and the bag may lose its shape. Store each bag in a separate compartment.

Long-Term Archiving

If you won't be using your bag for more than 3 months, store it in a sturdy box, wrapped in acid-free paper, along with a moisture-protective silica gel packet. Once a year, remove it from the bag and air it out.

Transportation during travel

When traveling, place your backpack in the hardest compartment of your suitcase, isolating it from other items. Do not hang your backpack on the handle or strap of your suitcase; the bead strings are sensitive to tension. We recommend using a special carrying case.
